Work at Gigafactory
Tesla's mission is to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy through increasingly affordable electric vehicles in addition to renewable energy generation and storage. At the heart of these products are batteries. Tesla's Gigafactory, which began construction in 2014 outside Sparks, Nevada, will allow us to bring down the cost of batteries so we can make our products available to more and more people, allowing us to make the biggest possible impact on transitioning the world to sustainable energy. The Gigafactory will also be powered by renewable energy sources, with the goal of achieving net zero energy.
Join the Mission
At the Gigafactory, we are building the future of manufacturing from the ground up, while also building an awesome team. The Gigafactory produces Tesla's energy products, Powerwall and Powerpack, as well as the battery and powertrain for the Model 3. These products are critical to the success of Tesla. We are looking for Production Associates and Technicians, who will be on the front lines supporting various assembly and automation operations working at the heart of our business. Prior manufacturing experience is not required. The team is growing quickly, and we are looking for rockstars at all levels.
The engineering opportunities at the Gigafactory are both incredibly challenging and insanely motivating. I've worked on the Material Flow Engineering Design Team for 2 years and can't imagine a more rewarding career. We're work hard, play hard people, and the area has been an amazing place to explore. World-class skiing & hiking, diverse festivals, and great nightlife are at our fingertips!
Tahoe – Sparks
Located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Gigafactory is surrounded by some of the world's premier outdoor destinations, lively downtown spaces and budding communities in competitive housing markets. With a burgeoning food scene of new eateries, a vibrant art scene and hundreds of outdoor adventures, Northern Nevada offers something for everyone. Or for a weekend getaway, San Francisco, Napa Valley, and other amazing destinations are only a few hours away.
We began battery cell production at the Gigafactory in early 2017, and by 2018, it will produce 35 GWh/year of lithium-ion battery cells, nearly as much as the rest of the world's entire battery production combined.
With the Gigafactory online and ramping up production, our cost of battery cells will significantly decline due to increasing automation and process design to enhance yield, lowered capital investment per kWh of production and economies of scale.
