Quality Assurance Manager Germany

Tesla, headquartered in Palo Alto, CA, develops high-performance electric vehicles, stationary energy storage systems, and solar energy technology. The focus is to reduce the environmental impact of transportation and electric energy use by accelerating the adoption of electric vehicle, energy storage, and solar technologies. Tesla’s stationary storage and solar electricity business unit (Energy Products) is focused on increasing levels of dispatchable renewable electricity generation.  The suite of battery systems developed by Tesla also performs a variety of other high value functions for utilities, businesses, and residential customers. The fast-growing EU team is adding a top team member to focus on Germany, but who is open to also tackle other EU markets subsequently.  

The role

The Tesla Energy team is looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to join the EMEA Business Operations team in Germany. The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible of the coordination of Energy Product installation to end consumers, including both customer facing interactions and operational functions for the DACH customer base. 


  • Plan and coordinate installations of Energy Storage systems to ensure conformance to codes

  • Supervise solar installers, technicians, and subcontractors for solar installation projects to ensure compliance with safety standards

  • Assess potential Energy Storage installation sites to determine feasibility and design requirements

  • Assess system performance or functionality at the system, subsystem, and component levels

  • Coordinate or schedule building inspections for solar installation projects

  • Monitor work of contractors and subcontractors to ensure projects conform to plans, specifications, schedules, or budgets

  • Perform start-up of systems for testing or customer implementation

  • Provide technical assistance to installers, technicians, or other Energy Storage professionals in areas such as Energy Storage electric systems, Energy Storage thermal systems, electrical systems, and mechanical systems

  • Evaluate subcontractors or subcontractor bids for quality, cost, and reliability

  • Prepare Energy Storage installation project proposals, quotes, budgets, or schedules

  • Develop and maintain system architecture, including instrumentation, process flow diagrams and best practice requirements

  • Estimate materials, equipment, and personnel needed for residential or commercial Energy Storage installation projects

  • Identify means to reduce costs, minimize risks, or increase efficiency of solar installation projects

  • Visit customer sites to determine energy storage system needs, requirements, or specifications


  • Minimum 5 years of field related experience in solar or energy storage installations

  • Licensed in either electrical, construction, or solar estimation or installation.

  • Fluency in both spoken and written German and English languages

  • Strong team-player

  • Previous experience working as a Manager of field related staff preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently, detail oriented, and execution focused

  • Proven record of prioritizing effectively and handle shifting priorities

  • Ability to work across multiple systems and platforms
