Sr. Automation Software Engineer - Tesla Energy
Regulatory product compliance is a critical business function and a rapidly expanding sector. The role facilitates global market access by leveraging product and process legislation. Regulatory complexity is increasing and continuously evolving with many local, national and international codes, standards and regulations (CSRs).
With innovative technology and an exciting pipeline of new products automation will play a pivotal role in meeting and exceeding product schedules.
Tesla Energy Compliance is looking for a full-stack software engineer with deep understanding of software development to help push the boundaries of test automation. You will develop a fully integrated test environment; interfacing test equipment, developing test scripts, data acquisition, post data processing/analysis and presentation together with redundant safety systems. The system will need to be practical and scalable.
The position will be co-located between Palo Alto, CA and Fremont, CA (Regular internal shuttle bus between facilities).
Read and interpret source requirements directly from CSRs
Design, build, and script product test equipment
Develop and maintain core services for data acquisition, test execution, and post-processing
Design and build web apps, dashboards, and back-end for a custom CI system capable of handling high test volume, human/automation time sharing, and multiplexed test setups
Develop regression automated tests for all product to cover test corners prior to field release
Coordinate with a large community of board-level test, software-level test, manufacturing, and development teams to drive standardization for test libraries and CI system
BS in computer science or related + 3-5 years professional experience
Strong development ability in Python
Deep understanding of operating systems, Unix (a plus, not a requirement)
Deep understanding of networking principles and the TCP/IP stack, CAN, ModBUS, Etc.
Experience with databases (SQL, a plus) and basic front-end development
Experience with devops / CI tools such as Docker, Jenkins
Ideally have an understanding or had exposure to regulatory CSRs
Understanding of electrical engineering principles; ability to read & understand schematics, use lab instruments (e.g. oscilloscopes), and build basic electrical systems
