Tesla is looking for a highly motivated specialist/expert to provide operational support to the engineering laboratory supporting every program at the China R&D. This role should have background in design, engineering, commissioning and operation of Mechanical, Chemical, or Building Automation and Controls systems. Responsible for ensuring the performance of building systems and driving the execution and quality of all general, preventative, and emergency maintenance for equipment. Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and process systems operation and maintenance is required.
Facilitate good laboratory practices for incoming engineering test including:
Lab sample management, training, and process development
Lab facilities and environmental monitoring and control
Calibration and maintenance of lab equipment
Enforce lab safety practices
Support a team of design and test engineers, chemists, and technicians performing routine testing as well as extremely high priority/rapid response projects
Maintain, operate, diagnose, analyze and repair facilities equipment including boilers, chillers, air handling units, dehumidifiers, VAV systems, hydronic systems, air compressors/dryers, exhaust ventilation, dust collectors, chemical delivery/storage systems, wastewater collection and treatment systems.
Monitor and report ongoing lab work status to lab management while driving lab operational improvements
Ensure all operations are executed with highest level of planning and safety to prevent injuries and downtime.
Ensure all team members working in and/or visiting the lab adhere to safety rules and good laboratory practices
Oversee the installation or repair of various facilities infrastructure or equipment including ductwork, piping, exhaust, wiring and HVAC.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in any combination of design, construction, commissioning, or maintenance of Mechanical or Chemical systems in a manufacturing (or equivalent) environment. Professional Engineering experience is preferred in industrial/commercial and or lab/R&D environments.
Proven ability to support a cross-functional technical team in a lab environment
Demonstrated expertise in physical and chemical analytics, method development/validation, and quality controls
Understanding of Building Management Systems (BMS) interfaces and devices, as well as familiarity with Automated Logic, Siemens controls, and similar controls systems.
Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize in highly dynamic production environment
Detailed-oriented, able to work both independently and in a collaborative project-focused environment, excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
