You can simply plug into an outlet to charge. Installing a 240 volt outlet provides more power than a standard outlet to charge your Tesla faster.

A Tesla Wall Connector installed on a 60 amp / 240 volt circuit breaker will achieve the maximum charge rate of 11.5 kW for 75 kWh configured vehicles.
A Tesla Wall Connector installed on a 90 amp / 240 volt circuit breaker will achieve the maximum charge rate of 17.2 kW for a 100 kWh configured vehicle.

We recommend working with a licensed electrician to install your 240 volt outlet or Wall Connector before the delivery of your Tesla. Your electrician will be able to assess power availability for the Wall Connector's amperage levels and ensure a safe installation.

Charge at Night
Your power company may offer special rates to electric vehicle owners. By charging at night when electricity demand is lowest, power companies can manage peak demand more efficiently, and pass that savings on to you. Contact your power company to see if you qualify, then schedule your Tesla to charge at specific times using the center display.
Home outlets are either standard 120 volt or higher powered 240 volt outlets. We recommend installing a 240 volt, 50 amp outlet called a NEMA 14-50, to charge up to five times faster than a standard 120 volt outlet.

*Wall Connectors can be configured to almost any power supply. A 60 amp circuit breaker best matches Tesla 75 kWh vehicles. A 90 amp circuit breaker provides the fastest possible home charging speeds for 100 kWh vehicles.
The Tesla App allows you to check charging progress in real time and start or stop charging. You can also use it to vent or close the panoramic roof, lock or unlock remotely and heat or cool the cabin to your preferred temp before you even get in.
