The Role
Production Planner
works alongside manufacturing teams to provide the master plan of schedule for
the respective shop and to support meeting those production goals. At critical
milestones, the planner is required to report on the results, maintain metrics and
escalate any reasons hindering achievement of said objectives.
Responsibilities
- Work with manufacturing
teams to establish the appropriate production quantity and frequency for Just
In Time delivery and line-side Kanban; coordinate with Material Planner and
Materials Conveyance teams as needed.
- Support manufacturing
by managing production output and delivering time-critical components to
execute on master schedule as well as respond to unanticipated changes in
production schedule.
- Maintain accurate open
Work Order lines to define target build quantities, identify system demand or
BOM issues, and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Support maintenance of
MRP master data parameters to ensure accurate signals for quantity and dates
generated by MRP (i.e. production lead times, lot sizing, and safety stock) to
minimize excess.
- Monitor KPIs for
assigned areas of production in order to track materials and prevent excess
inventory.
- Collaborate with
Purchasing and Engineering to coordinate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) to
plan for material and product end of life (EoL) and minimize obsolescence.
- Identify potential
production risks to align processes with production plan milestones.
- Assist in implementing
systematic solutions to control inventory flow, minimize shortages, and
maintain inventory accuracy.
- Provide ongoing
transparency of inventory levels and ensure continuous inventory accuracy.
- Work fluidly in a
highly cross-functional team environment involving manufacturing and product
development teams, as well as material planners, manufacturing engineers, and
conveyance personnel.
- Assist with inventory
control activities.
Requirements
- Degree in engineering (industrial engineering/operations research, supply chain
management or another quantitative field preferred) or equivalent in experience.
- Demonstrated high
volume production planning experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally
with 1 + years’ experience structuring and building analytical models.
- Evidence of exceptional
abilities.
- Ability to spot process
improvement opportunities and influence others to make change.
- Good organizational and
project management skills (the role requires juggling long-term projects, daily
tasks, and urgent questions).
- Ability to solve
problems in fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Ability to recognize
opportunities for improvement in operations and reporting/information
visibility.
- MS Excel experience
required (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.). More advanced Excel modeling skills a
plus.
- Working knowledge of
SQL database management and Tableau data visualization.
- Experience working in
SAP or other ERP system preferred.
- Enthusiasm for Tesla
& clean energy and a desire to change the world.
- Must be fluent in the English and German languages.
