The Role
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to
accelerate our vehicle-level homologation
test activities, with focus on energy consumption and range tests on
vehicle dynamometers. The Range
Dyno Test Specialist, will help drive Tesla’s worldwide rollout of new vehicles
as well as efficiency improvements
to the existing model lineup. The Range Dyno Test Specialist, operates Tesla’s
range test dynamometers and test instrumentation to support development teams with vehicle-level firmware and
hardware development and validation
tests while ensuring regulatory compliance at all times. The candidate must demonstrate outstanding precision,
consistency and accuracy. Troubleshooting and data analysis are major parts of the job in which the candidate must
excel. The vehicle test group collaborates
with many teams so the ability to interface and support in many types of
vehicle related topics is needed.
The position is located in Grünheide
(Gigafactory Berlin), Brandenburg.
Responsibilities
- Operate range test dynamometers including associated
equipment and instrumentation
- Actively stay up to date with any changes to existing and
new market testing regulations
- Coordinating test demands to meet the needs of multiple
teams and programs
- Coordinate vehicle and
equipment logistics
- Maintain proper documentation of test procedures relevant
to test parameters
- Analyze results, communicate issues found to the team
lead and stakeholder teams
- Write test reports to document results, communicate
issues found
- Diagnose any vehicle or equipment issues that arise
- Perform regular dyno quality checks and timely
calibration
- Inspect range test vehicles for dyno readiness, including
instrumentation installation, parts sourcing and changes, mileage accumulation,
alignment, and firmware
- Maintain safe and clean test cells. Keeps control rooms
clean and presentable.
- Support facility team with design and build up of
instrumentation or test equipment, as needed
- Prepare/modify/follow rapidly evolving schedules
- Collaborate with engineering technicians to ensure
correct specifications of prototype and production vehicles for homologation
tests for multiple global markets, including instrumentation installation,
parts sourcing and changes, mileage accumulation, alignments, firmware updates
and vehicle diagnostics
- Perform all work according to health and safety policies
- Organize and maintain inventory of necessary parts and
equipment
Requirements
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and must thrive on delivering
results in an extremely fast-paced environment
- Excellent communications, ethics and protocols (emails,
meetings)
- Mechanical and electrical understanding of an automobile
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Excellent MS office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, MS
Projects)
- Excellent MATLAB and analysis skills
- Must
have valid driver’s license
- Ability
and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% is required
- Exposure to chassis dynamometer tests
- Exposure to feature validation and vehicle testing
- Must be capable of driving prototype vehicles safely on
road and in workshops
