The Role
In this role you will be responsible
for the process of approving appearance parts for color, appearance quality,
and harmony. You will engage with suppliers, giving direction based on the
product target and approving/rejecting parts. The Design Quality Team
interfaces with the Design and Styling Team and Engineering Teams to gain an
understanding of design intent and develops product with suppliers as a
champion of that intent. You will work with Tesla Supplier Industrialization
(SIE) to support color and appearance harmony reviews. You will manage timing,
parts documents (AARs) and the supply base through the online supplier portal.
The ideal
candidate will possess high energy, flexibility, and excellent communication
skills, with the ability to understand program timelines and cross-functional
activities. You will be expected to push the normal automotive limits and help
define new processes or standards as the company grows. This role is based in
Berlin, Germany, and travel is involved, both to the to supplier locations
throughout the world, and visits to Fremont, CA.
Responsibilities:

Communicate with the Design Studio / Color, Materials and Finishing Team to
coordinate design intent for production.
* Manage
supply base for timing on pre-grain, post-grain, final appearance on appearance
parts.
* Coordinate
visual reviews for all appearance level parts.
* Assist with
mastering for production: sign-off of new masters once master standard is
approved, match to master development as needed.
* Manage
Design Quality data (AAR) in supplier portal.
* Support
material development and manufacturing processes as needed.
* Interface
with Engineering on DFM reviews.
* Lead in
communications with Mold Tech, for grained parts.
* Attend tool
trials for plastic parts.
Qualifications
& Skills:
* Ishihara Color Blindness - Pass, 100% with no indication of color
deficiency to red and green.
* Farnsworth/Munsell
100 Hue Color Acuity - Excellent Score, TES (Total Error Score) = 4 (Superior Discrimination)
* Detail
oriented and organized. Can manage data, timelines and tracking and follow
through.
* Strong
communication skills, ability to be firm and flexible at the same time.
* Ability to
effectively communicate qualitative feedback.
* Knowledge
of Colorimeter.
* Sensitive
to appearance and colour harmony.
* Some
experience and technical knowledge of different manufacturing processes for
appearance parts.
* Design
oriented.
* Familiarity
with DFM.
Preferred:
* Automotive materials knowledge.
* Automotive
manufacturing knowledge.
