Which on-board charger should I configure in my Tesla?
The standard on-board charger is designed to accommodate most owners' daily charging needs.
Tesla recommends the High Amperage Charger Upgrade for customers who desire faster charging at home. This option is also beneficial for owners who regularly plan to visit Tesla Destination Charging locations.
What are the benefits of a Wall Connector?
The Wall Connector can provide faster charging speeds than the included Mobile Connector. Hard wired and mounted to a wall or post, the Wall Connector plugs directly into a Tesla Model S or Model X, letting you leave the mobile connector in your trunk when on the road.
The Wall Connector is recommended for homes with more than one Tesla. Link up to four units to a single circuit breaker to intelligently share power between multiple Tesla vehicles. Power sharing is only compatible with second generation Wall Connectors, built April 2016 or later.
Wall Connectors are available from a Tesla service center or online shop:
- Long cable (7.3m)
Recommended for maximum flexibility in parking location
- Short cable (2.4m)
Recommended for ease of use when installed directly adjacent to the parking spot
