Your Tesla vehicle is protected by a 4 year, 80,000 km (whichever comes first) new vehicle limited warranty and 8 year, unlimited kilometer battery and drive unit warranty. Tesla recommends an Annual Service Inspection every year or 20,000 km to maintain your vehicle to top performance standards. Advance payment of Annual Service Inspections via a Service Plan is the most economical means of maintaining your Model S. Service Plan may be purchased by visiting a local Service Center within the first 60 days after delivery of a new or qualified Pre-Owned Vehicle.

Tesla Annual Service Inspection 年度驗車服務
Unlike gasoline cars, Model S requires no motor oil changes, fuel filter, spark plug replacements, or emission checks. As an electric car, even brake pad replacements are rare because most braking energy is regeneratively captured by the motor and returned to the battery. Our inspection instead focuses on tire condition and alignment check, replacement parts like windshield wiper blades, and software updates.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Service Plan be purchased at any time?
No, you must purchase the Service Plan within 60 days after the delivery of a new or qualified Pre-Owned vehicle. If you have already taken delivery, you have until March 31, 2016 to purchase.
What is the difference between an "Annual Service Inspection" and a "Tesla Service Plan"?
An Annual Service Inspection is the work performed on a vehicle when it comes in for its checkup every year or 20,000 km (whichever occurs first). Service Plans are agreements for multiple Annual Service Inspections in advance. In other words, Service Plans are simply prepaid Annual Service Inspections.
Why are some Annual Service Inspection prices different between years?
The different prices are dependent upon the actual work performed as opposed to charging a flat rate price for each Annual Service Inspection. Tesla is determined to provide world class service for our customers at a fair price.
What happens during my Annual Service Inspection?
During your annual inspection, our expert Tesla Service team will take your Model S through a bumper to bumper, roof to wheel inspection. The wheels will be removed and tires will be rotated. If wheel alignment is determined necessary, this service can be performed for an additional charge. Logs will be pulled and examined, and all systems will be tested for operation. The drive unit assemblies will be inspected, and the temperature management system will be checked. Your brakes will be inspected. If the brake pads are outside of recommended specifications, they can be replaced for an additional charge. Normal items, such as windshield wipers will be replaced as needed. Tread wear is inspected and if new tires are needed additional charges will apply if new tires are installed. Please note that tire wear is not covered as part of the annual inspection or under the Tesla Service Plans or the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
If I drive 40,000 km in a year, do I need 2 inspections? How would that apply to the 4 year service plan?
The mileage and time period both prompt the service interval. If you drive 40,000 km in 1 year, you'll want to have your car inspected twice. If you drive 8,000 km in a year, you'll want to have Model S inspected on the year anniversary of ownership.
Note: Tesla recommends that Annual Service Inspections be performed within 1,000 km or 30 days of the specified maintenance intervals for the selected Plan. Please contact your Service Center as early as possible to secure a booking.
When do I need to purchase a Tesla Service Plan and what do they cover?
You are eligible to purchase any of our Tesla Service Plans within 60 days after taking delivery of your Model S (or before delivery). You are not required to purchase a Tesla Service Plan and are able to pay for your Annual Service Inspection per each appointment. Tesla Service Plans are simply prepaying at a discount for your annual inspections. See the Tesla Service Plan Terms and Conditions for further details.
How often do I need to bring my Model S in for maintenance service?
We recommend that you bring your Model S into the nearest Service Center for maintenance service every 20,000 km or once a year, whichever comes first. Please use our Find Us page to find a Service Center near you.
If I choose not to service my Model S, will this void my warranty or Resale Value Guarantee?
It is highly recommended that you service your Model S once a year or every 20,000 km. If you do not follow this recommendation, your New Vehicle Limited Warranty will not be affected unless lack of maintenance results in a failure of a component. If you are financing your Model S through Tesla Financing, you will only be eligible for the full Resale Value Guarantee if your Model S is brought in for service per the above recommended timeline.
How will I remember to bring my Model S in for Annual Inspection on time?

During my appointment, how will I get around if I need my car?
We want your Tesla Service experience to be convenient and hassle-free. If you are within 25 km of the closest Service Center, a valet can be sent out to retrieve your Model S from your home or office and return it for you when the service is complete, if available. If service on your Model S will take longer than four hours, a Service Loaner will be provided for you, if available.
How often should I rotate my tires?
We recommend that you bring your Model S in to have the tires rotated every 10,000 km. This is included as part of the Annual Service Inspection. If you require a rotation in between annual inspections, this is available for an additional fee. If you have purchased a Service Plan, this is included as part of the plan.
Do I have to take my car to a Tesla Service Center?
It is always best to bring your Model S into a Tesla Service Center for any service needs. If you choose to bring your Model S to a non-Tesla shop for any maintenance or repairs, please be aware that if problems occur as a result of this maintenance or repairs, this could affect coverage under your New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Can I transfer my Tesla Service Plan to the new owner if I sell my Tesla vehicle?
Yes, you can transfer the unused portion of your Tesla Service Plan with the sale of your Tesla.
Can Tesla Service Plans be added to the cost of the vehicle when financing Model S?
Tesla Service Plans cannot be added to the total cost of your Model S, whether you are financing or not. These plans can only be purchased separately.
Can I cancel my Tesla Service Plan? Can I upgrade or downgrade my Tesla Service Plan?
You can cancel the Tesla Service Plan subject to certain conditions – please see the Terms and Conditions for further details.
You cannot downgrade your Tesla Service Plan once you have purchased the plan. You can, however, upgrade your plan by visiting your nearest Service Center.
Can I transfer my New Vehicle Limited Warranty to the new owner if I sell my Model S?
Yes, you may transfer your New Vehicle Limited Warranty at no cost to you or the new owner.
What is the New Vehicle Limited Warranty?
Your Model S is covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, which includes the Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty, the Supplemental Restraint System ("SRS") Limited Warranty, and the Battery Limited Warranty.
The Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty covers the repair or replacement necessary to correct defects in the materials or workmanship of any Model S parts manufactured or supplied by Tesla that occur under normal use for a period of four years or 80,000 km, whichever comes first.
The SRS Limited Warranty covers the repair or replacement necessary to correct defects in the materials or workmanship of the vehicle's seat belts or air bag system manufactured or supplied by Tesla that occur under normal use for a period of 5 years or 100,000 km, whichever comes first.
The Battery Limited Warranty covers the repair or replacement of any malfunctioning or defective Model S battery for a period of eight years or for the number of km specified below for your battery configuration, whichever comes first. If you have a 60kWh battery, your battery is covered for 200,000 km and if you have an 70kWh or larger battery, your battery is covered for an unlimited amount of km. To provide you with even more assurance, the Battery Limited Warranty will also cover damage to your vehicle from a battery fire even if it is the result of driver error, subject to certain exclusions.
