Full Self-Driving Computer Installations
We designed and engineered our Full Self-Driving (FSD) Computer from the ground up to rapidly process neural networks — the foundation for how we train and develop Autopilot. While no Tesla cars are fully autonomous today and require active driver supervision, the FSD Computer is capable of delivering intelligent performance and control to enable a new level of safety and autonomy, without impacting cost or range.
The FSD Computer is not required for any driver assistance features available today, nor will it affect current performance of the car. However, with the FSD Computer you will have access to an enhanced Driving Visualization that offers more insight into how your Tesla perceives the world around you and future Full Self-Driving Capabilities, pending regulatory approval.
Tesla cars with Full Self-Driving Capability and Autopilot Computer 2.0 or 2.5 are eligible for a complimentary upgrade to the FSD Computer. Schedule your installation from the Tesla app by selecting 'Schedule Service' > ‘Accessories' > ‘Upgrades & Installations’ and add ‘FSD Computer Upgrade' in the description.
To purchase Full Self-Driving Capability, access the upgrades menu from the Tesla app.
FSD Computer upgrades will be made available to owners based on their location and hardware configuration. We’ll continue to expand the areas of eligibility for self-scheduling over time.

What happens to the data from my old computer?
To maintain all of your settings and preferences, your data will first be securely transferred to your new FSD Computer. Following that transfer, we will perform a factory reset on your car’s old computer before it is replaced with your FSD Computer upgrade. You may also conduct a factory reset at any time by tapping ‘Controls’ > ‘Service’ > ‘Factory Reset.’
Will my car performance or features change after the FSD Computer is installed?
With the exception of the latest Driving Visualization, the FSD Computer installation will not affect the performance of your car and is not required to use any driver assistance features we offer.
Will I get future Full Self-Driving features with the FSD Computer?
Yes. You will receive access to additional Full Self-Driving capabilities through over-the-air software updates in the future.
What will I get when I purchase the Full Self-Driving Capability?
You will get access to a suite of more advanced driver assistance features, designed to provide more active guidance and automatic driving under your active supervision.
Will the FSD Computer make my car fully autonomous?
Not yet. All Tesla cars require active driver supervision and are not autonomous. With the FSD Computer, we expect to achieve a new level of autonomy as we gain billions of miles of experience using our features. The activation and use of these features are dependent on achieving reliability far in excess of human drivers, as well as regulatory approval, which may take longer in some jurisdictions.
