Configure RCM to restore e-Call functionality
Tesla has issued a recall on certain model year 2025 Model 3 vehicles produced between December 20, 2024, and January 16, 2025, with Tesla's identification code SB-25-20-002.
The subject vehicles were delivered to customers in the United Arab Emirates with a restraint control module (RCM) configured without e-Call functionality. This means that after a crash event, the vehicle will not trigger an automatic e-Call, resulting in non-compliance with UAE.S 5019:2018, which requires e-Call functionality in the United Arab Emirates.
What is the issue?
Certain affected vehicles registered in the United Arab Emirates were delivered with the restraint control module (RCM) configured without e-Call functionality enabled. This configuration error means that in the event of a crash, the vehicle will not automatically trigger an e-Call, which is required under UAE.S 5019:2018.
Is my vehicle affected by this recall and what should I do?
All owners can check if their VIN is affected by using the Tesla VIN Recall Search tool.
At no cost to customers, Tesla will reconfigure the restraint hardware and recalibrate the RCM to enable e-Call functionality, bringing the vehicles into compliance with UAE.S 5019:2018. The remedy program is expected to commence in December 2025. No further action is necessary from owners once the remedy has been applied.
You can confirm your vehicle's status by contacting the Tesla Service team or checking for notifications in the Tesla app.
Is my vehicle safe to drive?
Without e-Call functionality, there is an increased risk that emergency services may not be automatically notified in the event of a crash, potentially delaying response times and increasing the risk of injury or harm. However, the vehicle remains otherwise operational. We recommend scheduling the remedy as soon as it becomes available to restore full compliance and safety features.
