Taking Delivery
Taking delivery of your new Tesla vehicle is a quick and easy experience. With Tesla Tutorial videos available right on your touchscreen, you can learn about the features and functions of your vehicle from the driver’s seat.
After placing your order, download the Tesla app and use it to confirm your registration and delivery location. These details are required to move forward.
Additionally, use the Tesla app to select if you plan to trade in your current vehicle and to select your preferred payment method. You’ll receive a notification when your vehicle delivery approaches to submit your trade in self-inspection or complete your credit application, if applicable. To ensure a timely delivery, we recommend completing these steps as soon as possible after placing your order.
Prior to taking delivery of your vehicle, make sure to:
- Download the Tesla app.
- Complete the required delivery tasks to prepare for delivery.
To take delivery of your Tesla vehicle at a Tesla location, follow these steps:
- Upon arrival, follow the signs to the check-in area.
- Sign any available agreements, complete final payment and accept delivery of your vehicle in the Tesla app.
- Unlock and access your Tesla vehicle using the Tesla app.
- Explore your new Tesla vehicle’s features with interactive videos.

How should I prepare for delivery?
To prepare for delivery, complete the following steps:
- Download the Tesla app.
- In the app, confirm your registration and delivery location.
- Submit your trade-in and payment details.
- Once you receive a VIN, if applicable, upload proof of insurance in the Tesla app.
- If applicable, submit final payment.
- If applicable, accept outstanding agreements (available in the Tesla app within 24 hours of your delivery appointment).
Where can I find the latest updates on my delivery timing?
The Tesla app will be the source of truth for your delivery timing after placing your order. Delivery timing estimates are subject to change, and the Tesla app will always reflect the latest details. If you need a vehicle sooner than your delivery estimate, explore our existing inventory options.
Can I reschedule my delivery date in the Tesla app?
Yes. To reschedule your delivery date in the Tesla app, follow these steps:
- Open the Tesla app.
- Open your pre-delivery tasks.
- Navigate to the ‘Scheduling’ tab.
- Tap ‘Reschedule’ and choose a date and time that works for you.
Note: Deliveries scheduled within the next 48 hours are not eligible to be rescheduled in the Tesla app.
