Tesla-Approved Tires
Tesla works with the top global tire manufacturers to help engineer and design tires that integrate seamlessly with Tesla vehicles’ advanced electric vehicle drivetrains. Our trusted manufacturers include Bridgestone, Continental, Goodyear, Hankook, Kumho, Michelin and Pirelli.
Tesla marks our approved tires with a T mark, T0 as the first approved version. Subsequent updates to incorporate new tuning or technology will be marked with T1, T2 and so on. Tesla-approved tires are designed to optimize performance, safety, comfort and range.
Tesla co-develops tires for each vehicle directly with manufacturers. Due to the number of variables that impact tire performance, we utilize virtual development iterations, which combine computer modeling and other tools and allow us to evaluate potential tire designs before actually producing the tires. This development process allows us to tune our Tesla-approved tires to deliver optimal levels of range efficiency, ride comfort, handling and noise reduction.
Performance and Safety
Tesla-approved tires utilize advanced rubber compounding technology that delivers optimal levels of traction, handling and braking in both dry and wet environments. These tires are rigorously tested to meet Tesla's safety standards, ensuring reliable performance under extreme conditions such as high speeds or adverse weather. Additionally, their precise engineering enhances vehicle dynamics, providing superior grip during acceleration and cornering while maintaining low rolling resistance for extended range.
Range
Our approved tires are built to support both the high-torque acceleration and regenerative deceleration technology of our vehicles. By selecting Tesla-approved tires and properly maintaining them, you can realize up to a 10% gain in range on average compared to aftermarket tires since our approved tires are tuned for maximum low rolling resistance.
Driving Comfort
Tesla deploys the use of acoustic foam and optimized tread patterns in our Tesla-approved tires, which helps dampen road noise and reduce vibrations, delivering a quiet and smooth ride.
The cross section of a tire with acoustic foam
Acoustic foam in the tires reduces road noise by 6 decibels (dB) at 200 Hz. For reference, a 3 dB increase would make noise twice as loud, so cutting 6 dB makes the cabin noticeably quieter. This means music and conversations in your Tesla vehicle sound clearer, with significantly less road noise compared to tires without acoustic foam.
Tesla offers other tire options for certain Tesla vehicle models. You can find these options under ‘Other Tires’ in the Tire Center section of the Tesla app. Other tires are aftermarket tires that are evaluated by Tesla for your vehicle and offer solid performance, including low rolling resistance and overall value. Other tires may not contain acoustic foam which could correlate up to a 10% increase in noise, vibration and harshness (NVH).
Note: Other tires are not designed by Tesla.
Your vehicle’s originally equipped tires depend on the vehicle model and market region. Know the capabilities of your vehicle’s tires and whether they are suited for summer, all-season or winter driving.
All-Season Tires
All-season tires are designed to work across the widest range of conditions and offer good traction and comfort in moderate climates. While all-season tires are designed to provide adequate traction in most conditions year-round, they may not provide the same level of traction as winter tires in snowy or icy conditions. All-season tires can be identified by ‘ALL SEASON’ or ‘M+S’ (mud and snow) on the tire sidewall.
Winter Tires
Winter tires are designed with rubber compounds that retain flexibility in cold weather environments. Winter tires are designed with deeper tread blocks and siping, the small slits on your tire’s surface, which improves the tire’s grip and traction on snowy or icy surfaces. For the optimal winter driving experience, we recommend switching to winter tires once the temperature is consistently at or below 7˚C.
Winter wheel and tire packages are available from the Tesla Shop.
Summer Tires
Summer tires offer the best traction in warmer weather, especially for performance vehicles at higher speeds. Summer tires have reduced traction capabilities below 7˚C, and for safety reasons, should not be driven on snow, ice or when ambient temperatures are below 0˚C.
Tire Center
The Tire Center in the Tesla app is a convenient way for you to purchase individual tires or full sets of Tesla-approved tires tailored to your vehicle. By answering a few questions about your current tires and wheels, you’ll receive personalized tire recommendations, including the manufacturer, size and key details about the tire’s features. Once you select your preferred option, you can seamlessly schedule a service visit to have the tires installed at a Tesla Service Center. To purchase tires from the Tire Center, follow these steps:
- Open the Tesla app.
- Tap ‘Service’ > ‘Tire Center.’
- Tap ‘Full Set’ or ‘Select Individual Tires.’
- Complete the remaining prompts, select your tires and schedule your service visit to have them installed.
Tesla-approved tires can also be purchased from Tesla Service Centers. You can also purchase wheel and tire packages from the Tesla Shop.
Tires naturally change over time from the effects of ultraviolet light, extreme temperatures, high loads and environmental conditions. To maximize each tire’s tread life, rotating them spreads the wear evenly across all four tires. Always follow the recommended Tesla tire rotation schedule. You can also see when your vehicle’s next tire rotation is due by tapping ‘Controls’ > ’Service’ > ‘Maintenance’ from your vehicle’s touchscreen.

Replacing Tires
When you need to replace your tires, we recommend replacing them with our approved tires as they are designed to reduce road noise and optimize handling, comfort and range. If you schedule a service appointment to replace your tires with Tesla, you may be eligible to receive a 30-day Full Self-Driving (Supervised) trial.
When needed, your vehicle will detect uneven tire wear and inform you from your vehicle’s touchscreen when inspection or service is needed. You can schedule a service visit to replace your vehicle’s tires from the Tesla app.
Full Self-Driving (Supervised) Trial
If you purchase a full set of tires or a wheel and tire package from Tesla, you may be eligible for a 30-day trial of Full Self-Driving (FSD) (Supervised). If you are already subscribed to FSD (Supervised) and meet the eligibility criteria, you will get 30 days of free FSD (Supervised).
To be eligible for this 30-day FSD (Supervised) trial, you must:
- Be a Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y or Cybertruck owner
- Have Full Self-Driving computer 3.0 or later
- Own your eligible Tesla vehicle in the U.S. or Canada
- Not have purchased FSD (Supervised) outright for their vehicle
- Have purchased a full set of tires or a wheel and tire package from Tesla, excluding replacements covered by the Wheel and Tire Protection Plan
- Have tires installed by Tesla
After purchasing a new set of tires from the Tesla Shop or from the Tesla app, you can schedule an appointment from the Tesla app to have them installed on your vehicle. Installations must be completed by Tesla before January 31, 2026. Within 24 hours of completing the installation of all four tires, you will receive a notification in the Tesla app that your free 30 days of FSD (Supervised) has been granted.
If you are already subscribed to FSD (Supervised), your next renewal date will be extended by 30 days.
Your vehicle may need to complete an over-the-air software update before FSD (Supervised) features are available.
Note: This trial cannot be combined or used concurrently with other FSD (Supervised) trials. Only one FSD (Supervised) trial may be active at a time. This trial cannot be redeemed for cash or transferred to another vehicle and is subject to change at any time. FSD (Supervised) requires active driver supervision and does not make the vehicle fully autonomous.
