Tesla Assisted Driving Basic Transfers

Current Tesla owners may qualify for transferring Full Self-Driving (FSD) Capability, now Tesla Assisted Driving Basic, from their current vehicle to their new Tesla vehicle. Customers must have Tesla Assisted Driving (TAD) Basic on their current vehicle.

If you transfer TAD Basic from your current vehicle to your new vehicle, your current vehicle will only have access to basic Autopilot features. If you would like to have TAD Basic features on both your current vehicle and your new vehicle, you can simply purchase TAD Basic for your new vehicle without participating in this offer.

Note: Owners must notify Tesla of their intent to transfer TAD Basic and sign an agreement relating to the transfer prior to taking delivery of their new vehicle.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for this offer, you must:

Have placed the order for your new Tesla vehicle on or after July 18, 2025;
Be the legal owner and registrant of the current vehicle with Tesla Assisted Driving Basic purchased outright for at least 72 hours after delivery of your new vehicle;
Have the current vehicle and the new vehicle on the same Tesla Account; and
Agree to all additional terms and conditions

Note: Vehicles delivered prior to July 18, 2025, used vehicles, used inventory vehicles, vehicles owned by a business, vehicles used for commercial purposes and leased vehicles are not eligible. Vehicles declared a total loss are not eligible for an Tesla Assisted Driving Basic transfer.

No. You can only transfer Tesla Assisted Driving (TAD) Basic once from your current vehicle to a new vehicle delivered on or after July 18, 2025. TAD Basic will then stay with the new vehicle.
Yes. Once you transfer your Tesla Assisted Driving (TAD) Basic, it will stay with the new vehicle. If you sell the new vehicle, TAD Basic will stay with the vehicle and be available to the new vehicle owner.
Yes. If you are trading in your vehicle, the trade-in vehicle will be valued as though it has basic Autopilot as Tesla Assisted Driving Basic will be removed and transferred to the new vehicle.

Terms and Conditions

To receive this offer, you must meet all eligibility criteria and take delivery of the new Tesla vehicle on or after July 18, 2025. Tesla may remove Tesla Assisted Driving (TAD) Basic from your new vehicle if we determine in good faith that you've breached any of these terms or made any misrepresentation about Tesla Assisted Driving Basic on your current vehicle. Tesla reserves the right to change, modify or terminate this offer at any time without prior notice. Details about these terms and conditions will be provided to participants in their Tesla Account or in the Tesla app. Failure to follow and agree to all terms and conditions may result in reversal of the Tesla Assisted Driving Basic transfer.
