Powering a Full House

Living in a seven-bedroom multi-generational house with nine family members meant that our energy demands are continuously high – around 60 kWh a day. Between the electronics, televisions, computers and washing machine, energy is in constant use. Being Model Y owners since 2021, it just made sense to invest in the wider ecosystem to extend the cost savings beyond our vehicles, and into our home.

Now, we have two Model 3 vehicles, two Wall Connectors and a Powerwall with an expansion pack. This configuration allows us to capture cheap off-peak electricity and store solar-generated energy, helping us meet our family's demands while powering our household more sustainably.

Having two vehicles has also meant more quality time on the road as we all love to travel. We often make excuses to travel, just to enjoy the performance and ease of driving. My wife had never driven on a motorway before owning a Tesla vehicle—now she drives with complete confidence every day.

The impact on our household over the past five years has been significant. Our electricity costs have dropped by 45% to 50%, saving us around £200 a month, giving us the freedom to live more comfortably without compromise.

We have even added an outdoor Jacuzzi – something we can now keep warm year-round, completely guilt-free – and we travel more as a family, simply because we can. It's not just about saving money; it's about knowing we can enjoy some of the nicer things sustainably.

With Powerwall supporting both our vehicles and our home, using the energy that we do has become one less thing to think about. The vehicles are such a joy to drive, charge easily from home and are cheaper to run, we find ourselves making excuses for weekend adventures just to get on the road together.

The Tesla ecosystem powers all these little life moments on zero emissions. It means that we can have this kind of abundance whilst living sustainably.
