With more than 45,000 Superchargers, we own and operate the largest fast charging network in the world. Our global network had 99.95% uptime and was 100% renewable in 2022, achieved through a combination of onsite resources and annual renewable matching.

Case Study: Model S

Since its introduction in 2012, we have increased the range of the Model S by over 50%: from 265 miles to 405 miles of range for Model S Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive. Data shows that as vehicle range increases, Supercharging use decreases.

Fact: Quick Break

Drivers usually take a break after four hours, around 300 miles of range at highway speed. Our newest Superchargers can recover up to 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes of charging, long enough for a quick break.

The accessibility of our products is fundamental to our mission. The lifetime running costs of EVs are lower than the running costs of ICE vehicles due to lower maintenance costs, cheap electricity and residual values. Over five years of average driving, the ownership costs of Model 3 are closer to a Toyota Corolla than a BMW 3-Series.

With Autopilot

In 2022, we recorded 0.18 crashes for every million miles driven in which drivers were using Autopilot technology (mostly highway mile using Autosteer and active safety features) and 0.31 crashes for every million miles driven in which drivers were using FSD (mostly city miles). For drivers who were not using Autopilot technology (no Autosteer and active safety features), we recorded 0.68 crashes for every million miles driven. By comparison, NHTSA’s most recent data shows that in the United States there are 1.53 automobile crashes for every million miles driven*.
