New Vehicle Limited Warranty

Your new Tesla vehicle is protected by a New Vehicle Limited Warranty, which includes the Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty, the Supplemental Restraint System Limited Warranty, the Battery and Drive Unit Limited Warranty and Body and Rust Limited Warranty.

Note: This warranty should only be used for general knowledge. For the authoritative information of your vehicle, view the warranty provided with your vehicle.

Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty

The Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty covers your vehicle for 4 years or 60,000 miles1, whichever comes first.

Supplemental Restraint System Limited Warranty

The Supplemental Restraint System Limited Warranty covers your vehicle for 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Battery and Drive Unit Limited Warranty

The Battery and Drive Unit in your vehicle are covered for a period of:

8 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first, with minimum 70% retention of Battery capacity over the warranty period.

Body Rust Limited Warranty

The Body Rust Limited Warranty covers rust perforation (hole through the vehicle’s body panel from the inside outward) resulting from a defect in material or workmanship. The Body Rust Limited Warranty covers your vehicle for 12 years and unlimited miles.

Note: For vehicles purchased before February 1, 2019, there is no Body Rust Limited Warranty coverage.

Used Vehicle Limited Warranty

The Used Vehicle Limited Warranty gives additional peace of mind to owners of Certified Pre-Owned vehicles purchased directly from Tesla.

Certified Pre-Owned Tesla vehicles are covered by the remaining term or mileage of the Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty. After expiration, the Used Vehicle Limited Warranty provides additional coverage of 1 year or 10,000 miles. If the Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty has already expired, the Used Vehicle Limited Warranty will provide coverage of 1 year or 10,000 miles, starting from your delivery date.

The balance of original Battery and Drive Unit Limited Warranty still applies for Certified Pre-Owned vehicles.

Parts, Body and Paint Repair Limited Warranty

The Tesla Parts, Body & Paint Repair Limited Warranty covers parts purchased directly from Tesla, over the counter, online or purchased and installed by Tesla Service or a Tesla Body Shop.

This limited warranty covers the repair or replacement necessary to remedy any “failures” that are determined by Tesla to have occurred under normal use.

“Failure” means the complete failure or inability of a covered part to perform the function(s) for which it was designed, due to defects in material or workmanship of the part manufactured or supplied by Tesla, which occur under normal use. Failure does not include the gradual loss in operating performance due to normal wear and tear.

The Tesla Parts, Body & Paint Repair Limited Warranty begins on the purchase date of the part(s), and coverage extends for a period of 12 months or 12,500 miles, whichever comes first. However, some specific categories of parts have different warranty coverage periods:

  • Sheet metal: Limited lifetime
  • Drive Unit2: 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first
  • Vehicle High Voltage Battery2: 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first
  • Wall Connectors: 4 years for personal use, 12 months for commercial use
  • Touchscreen and Media Control Unit: 2 years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first
