Tesla has issued a voluntary recall on model year 2025 Model 3 vehicles manufactured between March 8, 2025, and August 12, 2025, and model year 2026 Model Y vehicles manufactured between March 15, 2025, and August 15, 2025, that are equipped with certain battery pack contactors.
What is the issue?
Affected vehicles are equipped with certain battery pack contactors which may suddenly open due to poor coil termination connection, potentially causing a sudden loss of propulsion.
Is my vehicle affected by this recall?
All owners can check if their vehicle is affected by entering their VIN in the Tesla VIN Recall Search tool.
Is my vehicle safe to drive?
If one or both contactors open when the vehicle is in drive, the driver loses the ability to apply torque to the vehicle using the accelerator pedal resulting in a loss of propulsion, which may increase the risk of a collision. Tesla is not aware of any collisions, fatalities or injuries that are or may be related to the condition.
What is the recall remedy and how long does it take to perform?
At no charge to the customer, Tesla will replace the affected contactors with certified contactors that maintain coil termination connection. The remedy repair should take roughly one hour to perform.
Do I need to make a service appointment for this recall?
To complete the remedy repair, schedule a service appointment using the Tesla app by selecting ‘Service' > ‘Request Service’ > 'Other' > 'Something Else' and entering the note “Open Recall Repair – Battery Pack Contactors” into the 'Describe Concern' field.
