Tesla for Company Vehicle Drivers
Tesla offers eligible businesses and organizations the opportunity to own and operate their own Tesla fleet, allowing their employees to use Tesla vehicles. If you are an assigned driver for your company’s fleet of Tesla vehicles or if you chose a Tesla vehicle as your company vehicle, learn how to get set up in the Tesla app, take delivery and more.
The Tesla app allows you to manage your account and activate different controls for your company vehicle. To get started, download the Tesla app from the App Store or Google Play store. Make sure you have the latest version of the app by updating the Tesla app on your mobile device.
Signing In
Your employer-issued email address will be the email you use to sign in. When you have been assigned as a driver, you will receive an email prompting you to create a password. Once you have your account credentials, download and open the Tesla app to sign in.
Note: If you did not receive this email, you can request a password reset. If the issue persists after you have verified your email address with your company or fleet management company, contact the Customer Support team.
Your Company Vehicle
Do not attempt to manually add a vehicle in the Tesla app. This will remove the vehicle from your company or fleet management company’s account.
If you have been assigned as a driver and the point of contact for taking delivery of your company vehicle, you should be able to see the Tesla vehicle and the order details in the Tesla app. If you were only assigned as a driver, you will not be able to view the vehicle in the Tesla app until your company vehicle has been delivered.
Setting Up Your Phone Key
Your phone key can be used to unlock the vehicle’s door and access all driver and vehicle control features in the Tesla app. Once you have taken delivery of your company vehicle, download the latest version of the Tesla app and enable Bluetooth on your mobile device.
To set up your phone key in the Tesla app, follow these steps:
- Open the Tesla app.
- Select your company vehicle.
- Next to ‘Phone Key,’ tap the ‘Set Up’ button.
- Follow the remaining prompts.
Note: If the setup for your phone key is unsuccessful, you may not be close enough to the vehicle. In this case, the Tesla app will instruct you on how to set up your phone key using your backup key card.
Your company or fleet management company is responsible for handling the pre-delivery process. If you are the point of contact for taking delivery of your company vehicle, you will receive a communication when the vehicle is ready for delivery. If you are not the point of contact for delivery, we recommend contacting your company or fleet management company to organize pickup for your company vehicle.
Prior to taking delivery, watch the Meet Your Tesla video series to familiarize yourself and learn the fundamentals of your company vehicle, including charging the vehicle, installing software updates and more.
Delivery Day
If you are assigned as the point of contact for taking delivery of your company vehicle, you are required to present a valid government-issued ID and provide your order or VIN on delivery day. You can find your order or VIN in the Tesla app by following these steps:

- Tap ‘Vehicle Details.’
Supercharging
If you are responsible for making payments for charging sessions of your company vehicle, save your credit card and billing information in the Tesla app before taking delivery. Once you have saved your payment method, your account will be automatically billed for any charging sessions.

- Open the Tesla app.
- Tap the menu in the top-right corner.

Tesla offers options to plan future trips either directly from your company vehicle or from the Tesla app.

If your selected destination requires charging, Trip Planner uses real-time data to route you to Supercharger locations along the way. While using Trip Planner, you'll see your estimated battery level upon arrival at a Supercharger and the recommended charging time needed.
To enable Trip Planner from your company vehicle touchscreen, follow these steps:
- Tap the map’s settings icon.
- Tap ‘Trip Planner.’
Note: Navigating to your destination automatically activates Trip Planner if charging will be required.
Using Location
You can use the ‘Location’ feature in the Tesla app by following these steps:

- Tap the navigation icon and enter your destination. If you selected a destination that requires charging, Supercharger locations will be added to your route.
- Tap ‘Leave Now’ to schedule your departure time.
- Tap ‘Send to Car’ to confirm your trip.
The navigation for your planned trip will appear on your company vehicle touchscreen when you depart.
