Tesla Interior Cleaning Tips
Cleaning the interior of your Tesla vehicle is important to maintain its appearance and prevent premature wear. Review these tips to understand what to use and what not to use when cleaning your vehicle’s interior.
Spills and other residue should always be wiped away immediately if possible. Tesla recommends using a microfiber cloth that has been dampened with a mixture of warm water and non-detergent cleaner. Use a lint-free cloth to dry your surface and avoid potential streaks. Using alcohol-based products, bleach, citrus, naphtha or silicone-based products or additives can cause damage to your vehicle’s interior, including chrome and metal surfaces.
Note: Warranty coverage does not include any damage caused by the use of cleaning solutions that are not recommended in your Owner’s Manual.
Review the following best practices for cleaning specific interior components.
Seats
- Regularly vacuum your seats.
- Do not let water or cleaner enter the seat belt mechanism.
- Let seat belts naturally dry after wiping down.
Touchscreen
- Use soft lint-free cloth.
- Enable ‘Screen Clean Mode’ to wipe vehicle touchscreen without activating buttons.
- Avoid using cleaners or wet wipes.
Interior Lighting
- Cover lights when cleaning your vehicle’s interior with soap.
- Do not use soap or chemical cleaning solutions to clean lights.
Interior Glass
- Use a non-abrasive cleaning solution.
- Avoid scraping glass or mirrored surfaces when cleaning as this can damage them.
Review the ‘Cleaning’ section of the Owner’s Manual for more detailed information about cleaning and maintaining your vehicle’s interior.
What kind of products can I use to clean my vehicle’s interior?
For most of your vehicle interior surfaces, you can use a mild non-detergent cleaner. Avoid using soap or any chemical cleaning solutions on your interior lighting and vehicle touchscreen. Before using any non-Tesla cleaning solutions, ensure that the solution is designed for the surface you intend to use it on.
How do I enable Screen Clean Mode?
From your vehicle touchscreen, tap ‘Controls’ > ‘Display’ > ’Screen Clean Mode.’ Press and hold ‘Hold to Exit’ to exit Screen Clean Mode.
