Binnen Tesla 21.03.13
George Blankenship, Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Ownership Experience, 21 maart 2013Spring has arrived and there’s so much going on it’s hard to keep track. The last three weeks have taken us across the Atlantic to the Geneva International Motor Show, Norway and Amsterdam. Here at home we are preparing to open our next round of Tesla Stores and Service Centers and are finalizing plans for our Spring Test Drive events across the country. Be on the lookout for events in your area soon.
MILESTONES
Model S is now officially a World Car. Not only can drivers be seen daily across North America smiling as they cruise down the highway, they can also now be seen doing test drives across Europe and Asia as part of the Get Amped International Tour. We are adding another forty test drive cars to the fleet in the next few weeks and look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming test drive events.
Over the past few months it’s been fun to watch the company achieve new milestones. First it was the factory ramping up to full production in December. During the past three weeks we have averaged more than 500 Model S deliveries per week, and it looks like we’ll be setting another record this week. With all these new cars on the road, it’s fun to watch as Model S racks up the miles. Model S drivers have traveled more than 12 million miles since deliveries first began. That’s a lot of CO2 emissions saved! And how are things going in California? Well, today we registered our 3,000th Model S in the Golden State. That pretty much says it all!
STORES AND SERVICE
After a very busy fall season opening new Tesla Stores and our recent opening in Austin, Texas during SXSW weekend, it’s time to hit the road again. Our newest Tesla Store in the Los Angeles area will be opening soon in Century City, followed shortly thereafter by a second store in Miami. From cruising Pacific Coast Highway in Los Angeles to Ocean Drive in Miami— what better way to take in the sights than in Model S?
Many of you may recall about two years ago when we opened our first new design Tesla Store at Santana Row in San Jose, California. It was our first prototype new-design store and has been a great learning experience for us during the past two years. Customer response has been so positive that we need to expand. We will be relocating to a new, larger location in the next few weeks. Thanks to everyone who has frequented our Santana Row store and has made it such a great success. We’re growing because of your support.
Speaking of support, we will continue to open new service centers all across North America and Europe in 2013. Some of you may have noticed our new Tesla Service webpage that went live last week. This new page provides a more in-depth look at what’s included in Tesla Service, our prepaid Model S service plans, and a new tire and wheel road hazard program. It also includes new Roadster service offerings. In the next few weeks we will be enabling the ability to purchase prepaid Model S service plans through your MyTesla account. Not to worry, no matter when you took delivery of your car, you will have at least 30 days from when the system goes live to sign up for any prepaid service plan you like. We will send you an email to let you know when your MyTesla account has been activated to purchase these plans.
FREE LONG DISTANCE
How about taking a road trip this spring? One of the most frequently asked questions we hear is, “When are we getting a Supercharger in our area?” We’re glad you’re asking. We will be adding Supercharger coverage in many areas over the next three to four months, installing our first Superchargers in the Pacific Northwest, Texas, Illinois, and Florida with additional coverage in the Northeast and California. We’re also expanding existing locations like Harris Ranch, where we’re adding five more Superchargers in the next month. Supercharging is the perfect way to visit out of town friends and family, and remember, it’s always free!
WRAP UP
It’s been a very active start to the New Year and we’re just beginning. New and expanded stores, new service centers and more Superchargers are on the way. We look forward to hitting many new milestones this year, but most of all we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our openings and events throughout the world. We are driven forward by your support and enthusiasm. Let’s make a difference in 2013 together.
George Blankenship
