Our commitment is to making electric vehicle (EV) charging fast, convenient and affordable. With live pricing, we want to provide you with flexible prices when charging your EV so you can get back on the road as quickly as possible.

Live pricing for charging your EV is a pricing model that adjusts prices based on real-time occupancy rates of charging sites. When charging sites are less busy, you can charge your EV for a lower price. In addition, when sites are less busy, we are able to offer faster charging speed due to less demand on the grid and lower risk of overloading the charging sites. When charging sites are busier than usual, charging prices may increase to ensure that our charging network continues to provide a seamless driving experience and reduce wait time for other drivers.

To charge at the lowest price, we recommend charging your EV when there are lower occupancy rates at charging sites. Additionally, you can charge at a faster charging speed.
To see charging sites with live pricing from the Tesla app, follow these steps:

Open the Tesla app.

For Tesla vehicle owners, tap ‘Charging.’ For other EV owners, tap ‘Charge Your Other EV.’

Search for charging sites.

Find charging sites with the following indicators of the occupancy rates:
Red: High

Yellow: Medium

Green: Low

Yes. You can charge your EV even if it is not a Tesla vehicle at charging sites that have live pricing. In order to charge your EV that is not a Tesla vehicle with live pricing, you must have the Supercharging Membership. If you want to charge your EV that is not a Tesla vehicle at these charging sites that have live pricing, you can still charge your EV at these sites at the default price displayed in the Tesla app.
To avoid overloading and causing disruptions for the entire charging site, we prioritize safety and reliability. When sites have low occupancy rates, there is less risk of overloading the grid with high demand.
