Full Self-Driving Computer Installations

Check your configuration from your touchscreen. Select ‘Controls’ > ‘Software’ and confirm Autopilot computer type. Then press ‘Additional Vehicle Information.’

If you have purchased Full Self-Driving (Supervised) and have Autopilot computer 2.0 or 2.5, you are eligible to receive a complimentary installation of our FSD computer. A complimentary hardware upgrade to the FSD computer is not available for Full Self-Driving (Supervised) subscriptions; however, you may be eligible to upgrade for $1,000.00 plus applicable tax, including installation.

The complimentary FSD computer upgrade for owners with Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is now available.

Note: If you’ve recently upgraded to Full Self-Driving (Supervised) and your vehicle requires an FSD computer upgrade, it may take up to a week before your upgrade is processed and eligible for an installation appointment. Schedule your service appointment accordingly.

If your vehicle is eligible and the upgrade is available for your vehicle, you can schedule an appointment in the Tesla app by selecting ‘Schedule Service’ > ‘Accessories’ > ‘Upgrades & Accessories’ > ‘Full Self-Driving computer.’

The installation process will typically take about an hour to complete but may take longer depending on your configuration.

To maintain all of your settings and preferences, your data will first be securely transferred to your new FSD computer. Following that transfer, we will perform a factory reset on your vehicle’s old computer before it is replaced with your FSD computer upgrade. You may also conduct a factory reset at any time by tapping ‘Controls’ > ‘Service’ > ‘Factory Reset.’

After the FSD computer is installed, you will continue to have to your existing features and, when paired with FSD (Supervised), you will also have access to more Full Self-Driving (Supervised) features like Traffic and Stop Sign Control (Beta).

You will get access to a suite of more advanced driver assistance features, designed to provide more active guidance and automatic driving under your active supervision. Learn more about the features included like Navigate on Autopilot, Smart Summon, Auto Lane Change and Autopark. Feature availability varies based on model, configuration, country and more. The FSD computer upgrade does enable recording from all cameras with Sentry Mode and DashCam for vehicles previously equipped with Autopilot computer 2.0 or 2.5 and paired with the Infotainment Upgrade.

Not yet. All Tesla vehicles require active driver supervision and are not autonomous. With the FSD computer, we expect to achieve a new level of autonomy as we gain billions of miles of experience using our features. The activation and use of these features are dependent on achieving reliability far in excess of human drivers, as well as regulatory approval, which may take longer in some jurisdictions.

If your vehicle has a Full-Self Driving computer and you have early production cameras on your vehicle, you are eligible to receive complimentary camera replacements. Only the early production cameras will be replaced with cameras with a different type of color sensor.

Starting in November 2021, we will invite customers to schedule service appointments for camera replacements. Invited customers will receive a message in their Tesla app and will see an option to request camera replacements while scheduling a service appointment in Tesla app.

We are working through supply constraints, and the invitations will be staggered as supply allows. Invitations will be sent first to vehicles with the highest safety scores containing Intel Atom® infotainment processors and then to those containing NVIDIA® Tegra® processors.

If your vehicle is eligible and you have received an invitation, you can schedule an appointment in the Tesla app by selecting ‘Schedule Service’ > ‘Upgrades & Accessories’ > ‘Autopilot Camera Upgrade.’

The forward-facing cameras, rearward looking side cameras and forward looking side cameras will be replaced. Some vehicles may have a mix of different camera types, and only the early production cameras will be replaced with cameras with a different type of color sensor.

The camera replacement process will take up to an hour to complete.

Yes. The camera replacements may be completed by Mobile Service or at a Tesla Service Center.

Camera replacements are required to access a continuously expanding suite of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) features.
