What is Tesla Insurance
Tesla Insurance offers competitively priced insurance products based on how and how much you drive. The Tesla app provides a simple way to get a quote, purchase a policy, manage your policy and submit a claim.
Tesla Insurance offers insurance using real-time driving behavior, which looks at what vehicle you drive, where you live, how much you drive, what coverage you select and the vehicle’s monthly Safety Score to determine your policy premium.
Tesla Insurance offers an insurance product in California which does not use Safety Score Beta to determine your monthly premium. Tesla Insurance policyholders in California may opt-in to receive a Safety Score for educational purposes only.
Safety Score Beta
Safety Score Beta assesses driving behavior based on several metrics called Safety Factors. These are combined to estimate the likelihood of a future collision which is used to determine your future insurance premiums. Your Safety Score gives you insights into your driving behaviors, which you can use to improve your driving safety and lower your future premiums.
Note: Safety Score Beta is available in California for educational purposes only. Your Safety Score does not affect your premiums for policies in California.
Purchasing a new Tesla Insurance policy is possible through your Tesla Account while you’re preparing for delivery of your new Tesla vehicle or through the Tesla app for a vehicle you already own.
Managing your Tesla Insurance policy is simple in the Tesla app. You can change your address, edit your coverages, add or remove a vehicle, add or remove a driver and change your payment option.
