Model Y Inoperable Reverse Lamp Recall
Tesla has issued a voluntary recall on certain model year 2026 Model Y vehicles manufactured between February 6, 2025, to July 26, 2025, that may have been delivered with inoperable reverse lamps.
What is the issue?
On affected vehicles, one or both reverse lamps may fail to switch on when the driver selects the reverse gear, creating a noncompliance with FMVSS 108.
Is my vehicle affected by this recall?
All owners can check if their vehicle is affected by using either the Tesla VIN Recall Search or the NHTSA VIN Recall Search tools.
Is my vehicle safe to drive?
Reverse lamps that fail to illuminate when the vehicle is engaged in reverse gear may increase the risk of a collision. Drivers can use rearview mirrors and the rearview camera to monitor traffic behind the vehicle. Additionally, a reverse warning sound alerts others when the vehicle is backing up. When the vehicle is shifted to reverse and the condition is present, a warning notification will appear on the instrument cluster to notify drivers of the loss of the reverse lamp functionality.
What is the recall remedy and how long does it take to perform?
At no charge to the customer, Tesla will inspect the reverse lamp housing and reverse facia harness on all affected vehicles, and if necessary, repair or replace the defective component(s). The remedy will take approximately 20 minutes to perform.
Do I need to make a service appointment for this recall?
To complete the remedy, schedule a service appointment using the Tesla app by selecting ‘Service' > ‘Request Service’ > 'Other' > 'Something Else' and entering the note 'Open Recall Repair - Model Y Inoperable Reverse Lamp’ into the 'Describe Concern' field.
