Supercharger Support

Superchargers are ideal for long distance travel and are designed to charge your Tesla vehicle quickly so you can get back on the road. For daily commutes or local driving needs, there are a variety of home charging options.

Charging speeds vary slightly by model.

Plug the charging connector into your vehicle charge port. The charge port LED will flash green once charging has begun.

You can monitor your charging progress in the Tesla app. Once you unplug your vehicle, your payment will be processed directly from the payment method in the Tesla app.

If you have added a Supercharging payment method in your Tesla Account, use the Tesla app. If you’re using a V4 Supercharger, you can also initiate a charge session directly from the Supercharger post.

If you do not have a Tesla Account, you can still charge by finding the Supercharger site online. Once you locate the site, tap the ‘Superchargers Open to Other EVs’ button.

If navigation is enabled, your vehicle will recommend the needed charge level to get to the next Supercharger on your route. To reduce congestion at high-use Superchargers, your vehicle’s charge limit may be automatically adjusted to 80%. You can manually increase the charge limit after plugging in by using the vehicle touchscreen or Tesla app.

Note: Charging speeds slow as the battery charges, so reaching 100% charge will typically take significantly longer than reaching 80%.

Yes. The Supercharger network is available to all Tesla vehicle owners.

All V3 Superchargers in Europe feature single-cable CCS technology that is compatible with every Model 3, Model Y and Model S or Model X vehicles built in May 2019 or later. To access V3 Supercharging with a pre-May 2019 Model S or Model X vehicle, request a CCS Combo 2 Upgrade quote from your local Service Center.

All V2 Superchargers in Europe feature dual-cable posts to accommodate both DC Type 2 and CCS Combo 2 charge-ports.

The interactive Trip Planner in your vehicle can help you locate a Supercharger site while you’re on the road. To enable Trip Planner, touch ‘Settings’ > ‘Navigation’ > ‘Trip Planner’ on your vehicle touchscreen.

Once you have selected a site, your vehicle’s navigation will automatically route you to the entrance of the property. You can then zoom in on the map to find the exact location of the station. Tap on the station’s red lightning bolt icon on your touchscreen if additional information is needed.

Supercharger stations are GPS located in the touchscreen navigation. Your vehicle’s navigation will route to the entrance and you can zoom in on the map to find the exact location of the station. If additional instructions are available, you can see them by tapping on the station’s red pin. Additional instructions may include a gate code, details on the parking level, peak hours and more.

Almost all Supercharger stations are open for charging 24 hours a day, although nearby amenities are subject to business hours.

If a Supercharger station does have limited hours, this will be displayed on the touchscreen when the site is selected.

You can help decide where our next Supercharger will be installed by casting a vote or suggesting a location. There is a new voting cycle every three months and you can cast up to five votes for proposed Supercharger sites. Additionally, you can suggest a new Supercharger site for the next voting cycle.

Note: By casting your vote, you agree that we may follow up and contact you regarding Supercharging.

If you are interested in hosting a Supercharger at your property, apply to get started.

Specific pricing for each Supercharger site is shown on the selected pin’s pop-up on your touchscreen. When your charging session is complete, an estimate of the final charges is shown on the screen. To view your final invoices in the Tesla app, follow these steps:

1. Open the Tesla app.
2. Tap the profile icon in the top-right corner.
3. Tap ‘Account.’
4. Tap ‘Charging.’
5. Tap ‘History.’

Prices may change from time to time. All prices include taxes and fees.

Charging rate is determined by the plug-in time and does not adjust if pricing changes during the charging session.

All Supercharger stations across Europe offer peak and off-peak rates. Rates and peak times are displayed in the touchscreen navigation application.

Note: Tesla never asks customers to complete a payment through a QR code.

Supercharging payments are automatically processed from the payment method in the Tesla app. V4 Payment Terminals are also available on selected sites.

Other EV owners can also pay with a credit card on Find Us.

To add a Supercharging payment method to the Tesla app, follow these steps:

1. Open the Tesla app.
2. Tap the menu in the top-right corner.
3. Tap ‘Charging.’
4. Tap ‘Manage Payment.’
5. Tap ‘Add Payment Method.’

You can have multiple payment methods in the Tesla app, but you will need to designate one of them as your Supercharging payment method before using a Supercharger.

The following payment methods are supported:

• American Express
• Visa
• MasterCard
• Diners Card
• Discover Card

You can add, update and remove Supercharging payment methods in the Tesla app. However, there always needs to be a primary payment method on file to successfully purchase Supercharging.

To add, update or remove a payment method in the Tesla app, follow these steps:

1. Open the Tesla app.
2. Tap the menu in the top-right corner.
3. Tap ‘Charging.’
4. Tap ‘Manage Payment.’

You can see if you have an unpaid balance in the Tesla app. If you have an unpaid balance, you will see a reminder that your Supercharging balance is due. To pay an unpaid Supercharging balance, follow these steps:

1. Open the Tesla app.
2. Tap the menu in the top-right corner.
3. Tap ‘Charging.’
4. Tap ‘Pay Now.’

Ensure your billing address and payment method are up to date before using a Supercharger. Unpaid balances or an incorrect payment method may prevent you from Supercharging.

Receipts from your touchless payment Supercharging sessions will be available on our website. Enter the charger name, date and payment information to find and view Supercharging receipts.

Supercharger idle fees help ensure a frustration-free charging experience for all Tesla drivers.

Superchargers are designed for fast charging and therefore should only be used for as long as it takes to charge a vehicle. If a vehicle parks at a Supercharger past a full charge being reached, idle fees start being charged. If the vehicle is moved within five minutes of the vehicle reaching a full charge, the idle fee is waived. Idle fees only apply when a Supercharger station is at 50% capacity or more. Idle fees double when the station is at 100% capacity.

At certain Supercharger stations, the cost of Supercharging differs at different times of day. At these Supercharger stations, the cost of Supercharging during peak hours will be higher than during off-peak hours. Prices and peak times are both displayed in the navigation application on the vehicle touchscreen and in the Tesla app.

Yes. All drivers can use a Charging Card provided by MSP providers to access Supercharger sites.

A Supercharging Membership allows EV owners to Supercharge at a lower price.¹ Tesla owners are automatically members.

Note: Supercharging Memberships allow you to use the benefits on all EVs you own. You do not need to purchase a membership for each vehicle.

If you participated in a previous referral program through Tesla, you may have free Supercharging credits. You can see available free Supercharging credits and their expiration date in the Tesla app.

If you took delivery of a new Tesla vehicle from Dec 15, 2022 - Jan 12, 2023, you may have 6,000 miles of Supercharging credits.

Note: These credits expire two years after your delivery date and are not transferable to another vehicle or owner.

To check if you have free, unlimited Supercharging, open the Tesla app and tap ‘Specs and Warranty.’
