Installing a Wall Connector

Wall Connector is designed for easy installation. An open wire box with integrated terminals provides plenty of room for landing wires, with entry point options from the top, bottom and rear. Installers can use a mobile device to commission Wall Connector, connect to customer’s Wi-Fi networks and register Wall Connector so both the customer and installer can access it remotely. For Wall Connector to work as expected, all three steps are required.

Commissioning, Connecting to Wi-Fi and Registering Wall Connector

Wall Connector hosts a Wi-Fi network for easy commissioning of the device settings. Commissioning is required before the device will be able to charge a vehicle.

How to Set Up

Prepare the Wall Connector
A pulsing green light on the Wall Connector indicates it's ready to be commissioned. If you do not see a green light, press and hold the button on the Wall Connector handle for five seconds to prepare for commissioning.

Begin Installation
Open the Tesla One app and tap 'Begin' on the install page, then scan the QR code from the QuickStart guide or the back of the Wall Connector. In 'Installation Settings,' enter the installation country and breaker size.

Connect to Wi-Fi
In the Tesla One app, tap 'Wi-Fi,' then select an available Wi-Fi network or connect to a network manually. Once Wall Connector is connected to Wi-Fi, a green checkmark will appear next to the Wi-Fi and Internet icons in the Tesla One app.

Note: Wall Connector is compatible with 2.4 GHz password-protected Wi-Fi networks.

Update Software and Configure Access Controls
To check if your Wall Connector software is up-to-date in the Tesla One app, tap 'Software Updates.' To configure your Wall Connector access controls in the Tesla One app, select 'Access Controls.' In Access Controls, you can choose:

All Vehicles - Allows any EV to use the Wall Connector

Only Tesla - Allows all Tesla vehicles to use the Wall Connector

Authorised Tesla Only - Allows only select Tesla vehicles to use the Wall Connector

Compatibility Mode - Allows your Wall Connector to be compatible with previous software versions

If you choose 'Authorised Tesla Only,' you can add approved vehicles by tapping 'Add' and entering their VINs.

Register Wall Connector
In the Tesla One app, tap ‘Registration’ > ‘Enter Customer Info,’ then search for the customer by their email address. If the customer has other Tesla products installed, select their existing site. If they don’t have other Tesla products, complete the registration form. Wall Connector must be registered to the customer to access features through the Tesla app and to allow installer access to Wall Connector through PowerHub.

Note: The customer email address entered during registration is the link between the product and the customer's Tesla Account. Ensure the customer email address is the email address associated with their Tesla Account and that the email address is entered correctly.

Final Verification and Tesla app
Your Wall Connector commissioning is complete if all the tabs in the Tesla One app show a green checkmark and the Wall Connector has a solid green light. Once commissioning is complete, connect your Wall Connector to the Tesla app to view your charging history and set up a charging schedule.
