Getting To Know Your Tesla Vehicle

Before taking delivery of your company vehicle, we recommend familiarizing yourself with Tesla vehicles and their features. Tesla offers resources to equip drivers with the necessary information they need to enjoy a safe and convenient experience. Watch our Meet Your Tesla video series or even schedule a test drive for your company vehicle.

Downloading the Tesla App

The Tesla app allows you to manage your account and activate different controls for your company vehicle. To get started, download the Tesla app from the App Store or Google Play store. Make sure you have the latest version of the app by updating the Tesla app on your mobile device.

Setting Up Your Tesla App

Your employer-issued email address will be the email you use to sign in. When you have been assigned as a driver, you will receive an email prompting you to create a password. Once you have your account credentials, download and open the Tesla app to sign in.

Note: If you did not receive this email, you can request a password reset. If the issue persists after you have verified your email address, contact your company or fleet management company.

Your Company Vehicle

Do not attempt to manually add your fleet vehicle in the Tesla app. This will remove the vehicle from your company or fleet management company’s account.

If you have been assigned as a driver and the designated point of contact for taking delivery of your company vehicle, you should be able to see the Tesla vehicle and the order details in the Tesla app.

If you were only assigned as a driver, you will not be able to view the delivery estimate or the vehicle in the Tesla app until your company vehicle has been delivered. If you do not have access to your company vehicle, contact your company or fleet management company to be given access.

Setting Up Your Phone Key

Your phone key can be used to unlock the vehicle’s door and access various driver and vehicle control features in the Tesla app. Once you have taken delivery of your company vehicle, download the latest version of the Tesla app and enable Bluetooth on your mobile device.

To set up your phone key in the Tesla app, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Tesla app.
  2. Select your company vehicle.
  3. Next to ‘Phone Key,’ tap the ‘Set Up’ button.

Note: If the setup for your phone key is unsuccessful, you may not be close enough to the vehicle. In this case, the Tesla app will instruct you on how to set up your phone key using your backup key card.

Scheduling Your Delivery

Your company or fleet management company is responsible for handling the pre-delivery process. Avoid contacting your local delivery center for updates or to schedule delivery. If you are the point of contact for taking delivery of your company vehicle, you will receive a text message when the vehicle is ready for pickup. Tap the link in your text message to schedule your pickup. If you are not the point of contact for delivery, we recommend contacting your company or fleet management company to organize delivery for your company vehicle.

Picking Up Your Vehicle

If you are assigned as the point of contact for taking delivery of your company vehicle, you are required to present a valid government-issued ID and provide your order or VIN on delivery day. You can find your order or VIN in the Tesla app by following these steps:

  1. Open the Tesla app.
  2. Tap ‘Vehicle Details.’
