Understanding Charge Stats

Charge Stats in the Tesla app helps you understand your vehicle’s charging behavior and how it relates to your total spending and estimated savings. To view your Charge Stats, open the ‘Charging’ section of the Tesla app and select ‘Charge Stats.’

Note: To access this feature, the vehicle must have software version 2021.44.25 or later and you must have Tesla app version 4.5.1 or later and be using the owner account for the vehicle.

Supercharger Map

The Supercharger Map displays every unique Supercharger location you used during the selected time period. Each location appears as a red dot on the map.

The map also shows:

  • Unique Superchargers: The number of distinct Supercharger sites you visited
  • Supercharger Sessions: Your total number of Supercharging sessions across all sites
Charging Graph

The charging graph shows your vehicle's charging history over the selected time period. Each bar represents the total energy charged, color-coded by charging location type.

Select ‘Total Charged’ or ‘Total Spent’ to switch the graph between the amount of energy charged in kWh and your estimated cost of charging. Tap and hold any bar in the graph to view a detailed breakdown for that period.

Below the graph, you can see more details about your stats when charging at the following site types:

Home

Home charging costs are calculated using the utility rate plan you set in the Tesla app for all sessions at your Home location.

Supercharger

Supercharger costs are pulled directly from your Tesla Account’s billing data.

Work

By default, Work costs are calculated from the average electricity rate for your region. You can set a custom rate or set it to zero if your employer offers free charging.

Other

Other covers all sessions outside of Home, Supercharger and Work locations. By default, Other uses the average electricity rate for your region. You can update this with your own estimate.

Gas Savings

Your Gas Savings is calculated using the cost of charging your Tesla vehicle and the estimated cost of gas while driving a comparable gasoline vehicle.

Gas Savings = Gas Equivalent Cost in a Gasoline Vehicle – Total Spent on Charging

Your Total Spent on Charging is calculated by combining the cost of charging at all your charging sites.

Total Spent on Charging = Cost at Home + Cost at Superchargers + Cost at Other Locations

Total Miles Added

Total Miles Added is an estimate calculated by using your Total Charged amount and the efficiency of your vehicle model and trim in ideal road conditions for your region.

Cost

You can view the total or average cost per kWh for each type of charging location for your vehicle.

Often, charging your Tesla vehicle at home is the cheapest option, and your savings may increase by switching to a time-of-use rate plan designed for EV charging, if available.

Other Locations

By default, charging at other locations uses a price based on the average estimated cost of electricity in the relevant region. You can personalize this to more accurately reflect your experience with a price per kWh estimate of your charging at your most frequent charging locations by modifying the custom rate.

Time-of-Use at Home

You can view the total Home charging energy in percent or by the kWh used for your vehicle in each of your time-of-use rate plan’s off-peak, mid-peak and peak periods.

To optimize your total spending, prioritize charging during the off-peak period.
