How to Manage a Tesla Insurance Policy

Once you’ve purchased a Tesla Insurance policy, you can manage your policy and payments in the Tesla app.

Adding or Removing a Driver

To add a driver to your policy or remove a driver from your policy using the Tesla app, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Tesla app.
  2. Tap the menu in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap ‘Tesla Insurance.’
  4. Tap ‘Manage Policy.’
  5. Tap ‘Make Policy Updates.’
  6. In the ‘Drivers’ section, tap ‘Add Driver’ to add, or tap ‘Edit’ > a current driver’s name > ‘Remove Driver’ to remove.
Adding or Removing a Vehicle

To add a vehicle on your policy or remove a vehicle from your policy using the Tesla app, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Tesla app.
  2. Tap the menu in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap ‘Tesla Insurance.’
  4. Tap ‘Manage Policy.’
  5. Tap ‘Make Policy Updates.’
  6. In the ‘Vehicles’ section, tap ‘Add Vehicle’ to add, or tap ‘Edit’ > a vehicle’s name > ‘Remove Vehicle’ to remove.
Changing Coverages on Your Policy

To update coverage on your existing Tesla Insurance policy using the Tesla app, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Tesla app.
  2. Tap the menu in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap ‘Tesla Insurance.’
  4. Tap ‘Manage Policy.’
  5. Tap ‘Make Policy Updates.’
  6. In the ‘Policy Coverages’ section, tap ‘Edit.’
Updating Lienholder Information on Your Policy

To update the lienholder information on your existing Tesla Insurance policy using the Tesla app, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Tesla app.
  2. Tap the menu in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap ‘Tesla Insurance.’
  4. Tap ‘Manage Policy.’
  5. Tap ‘Make Policy Updates.’
  6. In the ‘Vehicles’ section, tap ‘Edit.’
  7. Enter the new lienholder information.
Making an Overdue Payment

To make an overdue payment using the Tesla app, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Tesla app.
  2. Tap the menu in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap ‘Tesla Insurance.’
  4. If you have an overdue payment, tap the ‘Overdue Payment’ banner.
  5. Review your overdue balance and follow the instructions to make the payment.

If your payment was successful, you will shortly receive an email with the payment confirmation. If the payment was unsuccessful, the banner for the overdue payment will continue to show in the Tesla app, and you can make another payment attempt. Tesla Insurance accepts all major debit and credit cards as payment.

Note: Partial or advanced payments are not supported at this time. For California residents, alternative payment options are available.

Updating Payment Method

To update your Tesla Insurance policy payment method using the Tesla app, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Tesla app.
  2. Tap the menu in the top-right corner.
  3. Tap ‘Tesla Insurance.’
  4. Tap ‘Manage Payment.’

Depending on the state, fees are usually added to the first payment. All fees are non-refundable in the event of cancelation.

Tesla Insurance accepts all major debit and credit cards as payment.

Downloading Policy Documents

To view your Tesla Insurance card and policy documents in the Tesla app, follow these steps:

  1. Tap the menu in the top-right corner.
  2. Tap ‘Tesla Insurance.’
  3. Tap ‘Documents.’

Documents are typically available immediately after you purchase your policy. Renewal documents will be available on your renewal date.
