SI Computer Installations

We designed and engineered our SI computer from the ground up to rapidly process neural networks. While our vehicles require active driver supervision and are not fully autonomous today, the SI computer is capable of delivering intelligent performance and control to enable a new level of safety and autonomy, without impacting cost or range.

With the SI computer and the purchase of Full Self-Driving (FSD) (Supervised), you can receive access to additional FSD (Supervised) features through future over-the-air software updates.

If you purchased FSD (Supervised) and have computer 2.0 or 2.5, you are eligible for a complimentary upgrade to Full Self-Driving computer 3.0. Certain early production vehicles may also receive complimentary camera replacements. A complimentary hardware upgrade is not available for FSD (Supervised) subscriptions; however, you may be eligible to upgrade at your cost.

If your vehicle is eligible and the upgrade is available for your vehicle, you can schedule an appointment in the Tesla app by following these steps:
1. Open the Tesla app.
2. Tap ‘Upgrades.'
3. Tap ‘Software Upgrades.’
4. Select the option for FSD (Supervised).
5. Complete the prompts to schedule your SI computer installation.

You will get access to a suite of more advanced driver assistance features, designed to provide more active guidance and automatic driving under your active supervision. Note: The SI computer upgrade does enable recording from all cameras with Sentry Mode and DashCam for vehicles previously equipped with computer 2.0 or 2.5 and paired with the Infotainment Upgrade.
Not yet. All Tesla vehicles require active driver supervision and are not autonomous. With the SI computer, we expect to achieve a new level of autonomy as we gain billions of miles of experience using our features. The activation and use of these features are dependent on achieving reliability far in excess of human drivers, as well as regulatory approval, which may take longer in some jurisdictions.

Starting in November 2021, we will invite customers to schedule service appointments for camera replacements. Invited customers will receive a message in their Tesla app and will see an option to request camera replacements while scheduling a service appointment in Tesla app.
We are working through supply constraints, and the invitations will be staggered as supply allows. Invitations will be sent first to vehicles with the highest safety scores containing Intel Atom® infotainment processors and then to those containing NVIDIA® Tegra® processors.
