Life Support

If someone in your home relies on life support equipment, we’ll make sure you receive the protections you’re entitled to under relevant legislation applicable to your state of residence. This includes priority communication, advanced outage notifications and protections against disconnection.

Eligible Life Support Equipment

Equipment that is essential for supporting life and requires a continuous electricity supply.

Common examples include:

  • Ventilators
  • Dialysis machines
  • Oxygen concentrators
  • CPAP or BiPAP machines
  • Monitors or pumps prescribed by a medical practitioner
  • Other (to be verified by your doctor or medical practitioner)

For all submissions, your doctor or medical provider will be required to sign your Medical Confirmation Form in accordance to the form requirements.

How to Register

Inform us of someone in your home uses life support equipment. Contact us using one of the following methods:

We’ll place a temporary life support flag on your account immediately.

Complete the Medical Confirmation Form with a medical practitioner. You have up to 50 business days to return the form. Once received, your property will be fully registered with Tesla Electric and your network.

If the form is not returned, we will provide you reminders and may deregister the life support status after multiple reminders.

The Protections You Receive

You receive priority support and additional notifications about outages.

Protections include:

  • No disconnection for non-payment while registration is active (AER requirement)
  • Advance notice of any planned outages from your DNSP
  • Priority reconnection in the event of an outage
  • Flags on your NMI so networks and metering providers are aware
