New Vehicle Limited Warranty
Your Model 3 is protected by a New Vehicle Limited Warranty for 4 years or 50,000 miles (80,000 km), whichever comes first. The Battery and Drive Unit in your vehicle are covered for a period of:
- Vehicles with Standard Range Battery - 8 years or 100,000 miles (160,000 km), whichever comes first, with minimum 70% retention of Battery capacity over the warranty period.
- Vehicles with Long Range Battery - 8 years or 120,000 miles (192,000 km), whichever comes first, with minimum 70% retention of Battery capacity over the warranty period.
These warranties cover the repair or replacement necessary to correct defects in the materials or workmanship of any parts manufactured or supplied by Tesla that occur under normal use during the coverage period.
Frequently Asked Questions
If I choose not to service my Model 3, will this void my warranty?
We highly recommend that you service your vehicle as listed in the Model 3 Owner's Manual, which is available in your Tesla Account and on your touchscreen. If you do not follow Tesla’s Model 3 Service recommendations, your New Vehicle Limited Warranty will not be affected unless you receive a service alert and do not promptly contact Tesla to schedule service and that results in greater harm to the vehicle.
If my Model 3 needs service, do I need to take my vehicle to a Tesla Service Center?
Not always. With over-the-air software updates, remote diagnostics, and the support of our Mobile Service technicians, we help reduce your need to ever visit a Service Center. In the event your vehicle needs to visit the shop, we recommend bringing it to a Tesla Service Center. If you choose to bring your vehicle to a non-Tesla shop for maintenance or repairs, please be aware that if any problems occur, this could affect coverage under your warranty.
If my Model 3 needs service, will I get a service loaner vehicle?
We want your Tesla Service experience to be as convenient as possible. For the duration of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, if service on your vehicle will take longer than 4 hours, a service loaner vehicle will be provided for you. If a service loaner vehicle is not available, we can help arrange you with a rental car.
If I sell my Model 3, will my New Vehicle Limited Warranty transfer to the new owner?
Yes. Your New Vehicle Limited Warranty will follow your vehicle and be transferred to the new owner when a vehicle ownership transfer is performed through Tesla. To transfer ownership of your Tesla, email ServiceHelpNA@tesla.com.
