Cheaper Home Batteries Program, Now Available with Powerwall 3
The Australian government has introduced the Cheaper Home Batteries Program to make clean, reliable energy more accessible. The program provides a rebate of around 30% off the cost of an eligible home battery system, helping Australians take control of their energy use and reduce their electricity bills. The federal battery rebate launches on 1 July 2025 and is available once per eligible household.
Powerwall 3 is eligible for the Cheaper Home Batteries Program.
Eligibility
To qualify for the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, you’ll need to:
- Be an Australian household or small business
- Install a home battery between 5-50 kWh usable capacity
- Use a Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) accredited installer
- Install and commission the home battery on or after 1 July 2025
- Choose a home battery that’s virtual power plant (VPP) capable
- Connect the home battery to an existing or new solar panel system

How can I access and claim the federal rebate?
To access the federal rebate, Powerwall 3 must be installed by a Tesla Certified Installer. Your installer will:
- Confirm your eligibility.
- Complete the install and paperwork. The rebate is applied directly to your quote as a discount on your quote. Installation costs are not included in the rebate and will be charged separately.
