Combining Systems with Powerwall

Home powered with Powerwall 3

Powerwall & Solar

Combing Powerwall with solar panels allows you to store excess solar energy for when your home needs it most. During the day, your solar system powers your home and charges your Powerwall. At night or when solar production is low, Powerwall can supply stored energy to keep your home running.

Powerwall can be installed with a new or existing solar system, helping you increase solar self-consumption and reduce reliance on grid electricity.

Powerwall & the Grid

When Powerwall is installed without solar, it can charge from the grid with Backup Reserve or if Savings mode is enabled. Powerwall installations must also comply with local rules around grid charging.

Though Powerwall can operate when the grid is down, Powerwall must still be connected to the grid.

Powerwall & Other Renewable Energy Sources

If installed outside the backup circuits, Powerwall can also charge from other renewable energy sources like wind, hydro and co-generation. This allows your home to store and use renewable electricity from multiple energy sources.

Powerwall & Electric Vehicle Charging

In addition to home appliances, Powerwall can provide stored solar energy to your electric vehicle through your home's distribution panel.

When your solar system generates more energy than your home needs, you can charge your Tesla vehicle using only the excess energy. Learn more about what you can expect from Powerwall 3P.
