Tesla Electric Dynamic Plan
The Tesla Electric Dynamic plan offers more control for homeowners. Pay a monthly bill and manage your Powerwall settings for earnings. Currently, the Tesla Electric Dynamic plan is only available in areas of Texas where customers can choose their home electricity provider.
Once you have started your service with the Tesla Electric Dynamic plan, Tesla measures the energy that you use to charge your vehicles and power your home. This month-to-month plan uses an energy rate that varies depending on the time of day. With the Dynamic plan, you will:
- Pay a standard rate for energy used to power your home during on-peak times (6 PM to 9 PM)
- Pay a lower rate for energy used to power your home during off-peak times (9 PM to 6 PM)
For Customers With Powerwall
Paired with Powerwall, the Tesla Electric Dynamic plan allows you to optimize the value of your Powerwall system. With full control of your system configurations, you can monitor Real-Time Market Prices1 and discharge your energy to the grid when rates are high. You can also pair your Powerwall with the Tesla Electric VPP with ERCOT to earn additional credit. With the Dynamic plan and a Powerwall system, you will:
- Earn 90% of Real-Time Market Price1 for stored Powerwall energy
- Earn a fixed VPP credit of $10/month per Powerwall
In 2023, Powerwall customers earned an average of 17¢/kWh for energy exported to the grid.
For Customers With Vehicles and Powerwall
If you own a Tesla vehicle, enjoy unlimited charging as part of the Tesla Electric Dynamic plan. With unlimited home charging, you will:
- Pay a low monthly fixed fee for unlimited vehicle charging between midnight and 6 AM
- Pay your applicable energy rate for vehicle charging between 6 AM and midnight
For Customers With Solar and Powerwall
If you own solar systems, the Tesla Electric Dynamic plan allows you to sell excess solar at 90% of the Real-Time Market Price1. There is no set sellback rate, and the rate fluctuates every 15 minutes based on the current price of energy in the ERCOT market.
Managing your Tesla Electric bill, including making payments, can be done through the Tesla app. Your bill will reflect the following:
- Tesla Electric charges: Energy used to power your home at peak and off-peak
- Tesla Electric sellback credits: Energy sold back to the grid at Real-Time Market Prices1
- Tesla VPP: Credit earned through participation in Tesla VPP
- TDSP charges: Transmission and Delivery (TDSP) fees
- Taxes
- Excess sellback credit rollover: Remaining balance of credits, if total earned credits exceed total electricity costs and taxes
1 This is the Real-Time Market Settlement Point Price (SPP) as determined by ERCOT on a 15-minute interval basis for the load-zone nearest the Utility Meter.
