Tesla regularly evaluates solar panels available in the market to help us offer the best technology. We currently use all-black, high-efficiency panels that look great on your roof. We use panels that maintain their production levels at high temperatures with minimal degradation over their 25-year lifespan.

Solar Inverters and Power Optimizers

When completing your solar system layout, Tesla’s engineers will select the best solar panel inverter based on your home’s roof structure and sun exposure. We typically prefer string inverters for their reliability, high efficiency and the ability to maintain them without needing installers to go on your roof. This choice provides you with reliable equipment without sacrificing overall production.

If Tesla determines that your solar system requires individual panel power optimizers, such as if your home has significant shading, then our engineers will design them in your layout. The cost of either inverter option is included in our standard solar pricing, but it will be Tesla’s ultimate decision to determine which is installed for your system as not all systems benefit from power optimizers.

Mounting Hardware

Tesla’s proprietary mounting hardware provides a low-profile installation and allows us to install 30% fewer anchor points on your roof compared to a traditional installation. This is intended to result in fewer issues over time and better aesthetics.
