We design your solar system using high-quality equipment so that your system produces clean energy for decades. As with all technology, some basic troubleshooting may be required from time to time. Some issues can be resolved from the convenience of your home, without the need for additional technician assistance.

If you see an error or lack of power on your Gateway, this indicates that your Gateway is not communicating with our servers. Until this is resolved, we cannot share your solar panel production and efficiency with you or alert you if there are any issues.
Note: Tesla Solar Inverter does not have a Gateway. If you are experiencing issues with your Tesla Solar Inverter, proceed with troubleshooting your inverter.

System Failure
If you experience one of the following issues, this indicates that your solar system is not producing energy and your home is being powered by your local utility.
- Inverter indicates an error
- Inverter indicates no production
- Inverter displays no power
Note: After dark, your solar inverter automatically switches to Night Mode — the lights will be off, and the screen will be blank. When the sun rises, your solar inverter will return to normal.
Bridge Offline
If your solar inverter screen shows that the system is producing energy, but production data is not updating or visible on the Tesla app, we cannot share your solar panel production and efficiency with you or alert you if there are any issues.
Frequently Asked Questions About Troubleshooting Your Inverter
How long does it take to replace my inverter?
If a technician troubleshoots your inverter and determines that the inverter or its internal parts need to be replaced, the typical replacement timeline is between 10-15 days. Note that the timeline to receive parts varies by manufacturer. Once parts are received, we will contact you to schedule a service appointment to complete the repairs.
What do the light indicators on my inverter mean?
The light indicators on your inverter are designed to notify you as soon as troubleshooting may be required. Learn more about the troubleshooting process if you have received an alert from us, or if your system is experiencing a problem.
How do I view my system’s energy production online?
If you are receiving energy from your system and want to view production online, connect your inverter to the internet.
How long does it take to replace a damaged solar panel?
In the event that a solar panel is damaged or defective, we will work with you to install a replacement panel if needed. Timelines for scheduling and maintenance depend on a number of factors, including crew availability and manufacturer turnaround. We will work with you to schedule a service appointment at the earliest date available.
Solar panels installed by us include a warranty, as outlined in your Energy Products Order Agreement. To make a warranty claim, contact our Customer Support team.
